#20190608 - School XI class student studying in Chennai

This Class XI student from Chennai lost her mother eight months ago. The mother had been suffering from cancer and mental health issues since 2010. The student had trouble coping with the devastating loss and she scored poorly in Class X although she managed to pass. 

The student’s father had abandoned the family when she was only a few months old. She lives with her grandparents. Her mother’s younger sister helps with the family’s expenses. The grandfather is both lame and blind and is unable to bring in any income.

Her teachers reached out to various NGOs for potential help with the student’s fees. The candidate was referred to Aalayam by Viduthalai trust. Based on Aalayam’s detailed review, it was found that the candidate deserved fee assistance. A sum of Rs.30000 has been approved.
